Welcome to Hope Barton Barns - Located in its own secluded valley only minutes away from tranquil Hope Cove, near Salcombe, Hope Barton Barns is a selection of original stone barns surrounding two courtyards, together with a traditional farmhouse, offering superb, family and pet friendly self catering holiday cottage accommodation on a 35 acre working farm in South Devon.

These cottages are of rare quality, and you can choose from one of the 17 stone barns in two courtyards or from on of our 4 luxury apartments in a converted farmhouse, within 35 acres. Each of these 1- 4 bedroom cottages and apartments has its own distinctive character, and has been sensitively converted retaining original features such as exposed beams, stonework and brick arches. They are all superbly furnished and fully equipped with hand-crafted furniture, dishwasher, washing machine/drier, fridge, microwave, oven and hob with hood and satellite TV and DVD. The master bedrooms have 2-poster beds with drapes. Hope Barton has its own private pastures, streams, trout lakes, woodland and bracken-covered hills, plus an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, gym, tennis court, library and lounge bar. A short stroll through a National Trust meadow is Hope Cove with a Post Office/store, a delightful pub and safe sandy beaches. In the heart of the South Hams, Hope Barton Farm is in the picturesque Hope Cove and is a perfect retreat for a luxury break, it is very close to Salcombe - probably the 2nd most expensive place in the country.

Sleeping Arrangements

Each barn or apartment offers well designed accommodation with 1, 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms, sleeping up to 10 people.

In addition each cottage has a double sofa bed to accommodate extra guests and additional bedding is available should this be needed. Cots, high chairs and stair gates are available for the younger children.

As well as providing a perfect setting for a pet friendly, self catering family holiday or short break, Hope Barton Farm is the ideal base from which to explore all the wonderful things South Devon has to offer. Situated near the coast in Hope Cove, between Salcombe and Kingsbridge, Hope Barton offers easy access to a wealth of local towns, villages, attractions, beaches and sporting activities. Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are only a short distance away and Dartmoor itself is on your doorstep.

Holiday rentals and ownership available - Boat trips for sea fishing or nature watching, Golf, Riding, Sailing, Diving & walking all nearby. Historic towns of Dartmouth, Totnes, Kingsbridge. On land, in the air or at sea our exciting wildlife is here in abundance in the South Hams. In the estuary and just out to sea, porpoises and dolphins can often be seen.

Other Information

The name, "Ham", comes from the Anglo-Saxon, "Hamme", meaning a sheltered place. This probably accounts for the area's pleasant climate, although for those who choose to visit or live in the district there is more than just good weather. The area boasts a number of historic towns and villages, excellent sailing and walking opportunities, dozens of safe, clean beaches and many events and shows, regattas, fairs and festivals throughout the year.

The District’s history is catered for through local museums in Totnes, Dartmouth, Salcombe and Kingsbridge. A flavour of the region’s maritime heritage can be savoured at the Britannia Royal Naval College at Dartmouth. The area boasts many local fairs and festivals including the Marldon Apple Pie Fair, Modbury May Fair week, the Dartmouth Music Festival, the Salcombe Festival and the Kingsbridge Midsummer Music Festival.
