Charalambos Holiday Cottage is managed by the Charalambous family and is located in the centre of Kalavasos village in a secluded location.

Kalavassos village is 4KM from Zigi and Governor´s Beach, 30 minutes from Nicosia or Larnaca and 15 minutes from Limassol, centrally located to tour the whole island.

We will also be happy to accept bookings for the entire house, an ideal solution for several families holidaying together or small weddings or private parties.

Our logo is a shy local lizard, the “Laudakia stellio cypriaca” or the locals call it “Kourkoutas”. As the house was left uninhabited for decades the little lizards “took over”. It was unfortunate that during the renovation process we had to “evict” them.

The house, originally constructed in around 1890, is stone built with renovation works completed in 2011 in order that the house maintains its original character.

The kitchens fully equipped with all utensils, fridge, gas stove, air condition and LCD TV with satellite channels.

The main building is surrounded by a spacious and private front yard, lawn with a flower variety and the only private swimming pool in the village with sun beds.

Guests are welcomed with a complementary fruit basket made up of seasonal fruits grown in our fields, wine and local fruit sweets made by the family.

Sleeping Arrangements

The house is made up of 5 independent and luxurious self-catering apartments, Anna, Georgoula, Anthousa, Eleni and Simoni each with en suite Kitchen, bathrooms, power showers.

Each room is traditionally decorated and contain a custom made iron bed and sitting area. Rooms ideal for families with children are also available.

Things You Should Know

The history of the house and the renovation process.

The house was built by Charalambos grandfather around 1890 and was later past to his son Vasilis Adamou who in 1965 has immigrated to the United States with all his family, except Charalambos, selling the house to his brother Pavlos who had previously immigrated to Australia with family. The house was since not inhabited.

The renovation lasted 2 years and the whole process was under the auspices of the Traditional housing authority and Cyprus tourism organization.

Charalambos son Andreas, a US/UK educated professional, decided 6 years ago to bring the old house back to life and bought it back from his Australian cousins.

Andrea’s vision is that his children, who love their grandparents village, to maintain their roots and the family traditions.

Other Information

The village Kalavassos is found at about 40 kilometres south-west of the city of Larnaca. It is built upon the west bank of the Vasilikos River.

Kalavassos is one of the oldest villages in Cyprus: early inhabitants are thought to have lived in the area situated south east of its present location which was called 'Petreno' that at the time was next to the sea. 'Petreno' (full of stones) so named because this spot is now covered with stones from the original village.

As far as transportation is concerned, Kalavasos is connected by road to the Nicosia-Limassol highway that runs south of the community. In the north-west it connects to Asgata and in the north-east with Tochni.

Kalavassos is one of the new tourist villages found in Cyprus, which still maintain their character and charm and have not become at all commercialised. The village has retained its individuality and atmosphere that is typical of an old style Cyprus. It has all the facilities required by the modern day traveller at the same time retaining the pace of some older era. The Church and the square with its old style coffee shops are still the focus of the community. All the shops and the bank are nearby and people gather there to say hello over a cup of coffee or a drink.

Kalavasos today is a developing community with all the comforts that modern times have to offer. The village daily receives several local and foreign visitors that admire the community's natural beauty and archaeological sites from up close.
